Malice had been walking about the city all day, alley after alley. She'd seen nothing that had sparked even a remote interest until she happened upon a much quieter place. Walking down the very thin lane, Malice perused the birds that sat silently on tall pedestals. A squat man who barely came to Malice's waist approached her as she reached out to touch a large hawk on his head.

"I'm sorry miss, but 'es not for takin. Bird's got a bit of an attitude pro'lem."

"Perfect", she murmured.

A small 3x5 (I think) illustration that I drew for Illustration in SP 08. The assignment was to take a style of illustration we liked from a book and try and use it. I choose the book "A Hidden Magic" by Vivian Vande Velde. It's not only written amazingly, but it's also got some very wonderful illustration throughout!

It's one of my favorite drawings I have ever done. And Malice and Tholin (the hawk's later name) are becoming two of my most beloved characters. They're just such a wonderful pair and it's good to finally know what Malice looks like.


Used a reference for the hawks and the glove as I've hardly drawn birds, but falconry has become something I am fully interested in now.
